Large Organ

Upon the destruction of the St. Mary's Church on Palm Sunday 1942, a large St. Mary's organ was not erected until 1968 after a building time of six years. It was built by the Kemper & Sohn, organ builder in Lübeck.
This huge work contains 101 sounding voices on five manuals (Kronenwerk, Oberwerk, Brustwerk, Hauptwerk and Rückpositiv).
An electrical stop - key board with six free combinations, free pedal combinations, two shutter swells and a roller swell are available to the organist.
The presence of a double manual stop - key board ( one register table each with all voices and secondary stops on the left and right side of the player) offers a possibility to the player to register several pieces before he starts playing.

Hauptwerk, Brustwerk and the Rückpositiv form the core of the "Buxtehude Organ". Kronenwerk and Oberwerk also contain additional voices of older and more modern sound ( f.e. None (8/9'). The pedal is divided into a large and small pedal, both independent of each other. The large pedal covers the fundamental voices such as 32' and 16'. The small pedal mainly contains the high voices such as 4' and 2' as well as the mixtures.
